That's why since I was young I wanted to know about everything. I asked questions everywhere and was hanging out with adults a lot more than with kids my own age. I was able to get a ton of information and knowledge from these people. Of course not all questions are welcome and one has to be careful but persistent. People can get very angry because questions will show their weaknesses and sometimes embarrass them. However it is always and in every way worth the risk because ignorance almost always leads to wrong conclusions and can very well end in disaster.
I consider myself very open minded at all times because I want to hear about different angles and ideas. However, I am not afraid to also defend my opinion if I feel it's worth fighting for. One has to be ready to argue at absolutely every point of time. Every source you will ever encounter in life is trying to convince you of some kind of thesis or opinion. That's the nature of an argument and reasoning.
Now why am I talking about this? I have watched a lot of movies and read a lot of books in my life, just like most people. There is so much out there that is trying to convince me of an opinion. Some of them I didn't agree with at all but I believe it's important to know what critics and enemies think and have to say. They are extremely opinionated and one sided and one has to accept and work with that. Most movies or books pick up an argument, a side and then try to throw as many supporting evidence at it as they can find. All of these sources are incredibly interesting and deserve to be heard but have to be questioned at the same time. And this is crucial!
One should never, absolutely never accept a source as the truth because somebody told you to believe it. As impressive as the supporting evidence may look like, a lot of times it literally falls apart when give it a closer look. So many arguments, quotes and details can turn out not only inaccurate but plain and simply wrong.
All of my opinions, thoughts and comments are decisions based on what I know and believe. One has to seriously enjoy and use the fact that you can think for yourself and make your own decisions to the maximum. It's incredibly hard sometimes, but the goal should never be to please other people or just go by what other people are saying. That doesn't help anybody. The real goal should be to make the best decision you can make by yourself according to the information you have. That's an incredibly valuable gift one should use as much as possible.
In my opinion the best thing you can do to help other people and society is to not accept anything as the truth because somebody told you to. Question absolutely anything and everything and come up with an opinion of your own.
What one should take away from different sources is not so much the points they are trying to prove. One should realize how important it is to not accept anything people tell you without questioning it. Questions and knowledge are weapons which one should use to make up their own mind.
Not somebody else's but simply yours. You alone should have the control over your mind, decisions and opinions. Don't accept anything else. I believe this is a huge gift and you should use as well as appreciate it as much as possible.
I really feel at times that all I want is to live on an island. It's not just some random goofy day dream I have. It's because quite often I simply get fed up with everybody trying to force their opinion on me and try to keep me down. I want to make up my own mind, that's all and that should be the goal for everybody.
